Fic: Say Goodnight, Not Goodbye (3/3)

Author’s Note: I’m kind of sad about this. I am. I truly do think this is probably the last canon!AOS ‘Trek story I’ll ever write because I literally cannot do this to my brain anymore. Seriously, you guys have no idea how hard it was for me not to simply say ‘eff it’ and write my characterizations of the ‘Trek characters into this story instead of ( Read more... )

Thank you for this beautiful story! Ah, and you made me cry again. I don't think I'll ever get over what they did in STID.

I very much like the atmosphere of this story, the implications of Jim meeting Pike after his death--basically everything the title already says. The small link to Boyce. And how it's a lot harder for all of them to get on after this in contrast to the movie's ending.

Personally, I'll be just happy to read any AU you'll write (especially any new chapters of your zombie!AU with BAMF!Pike). And if you ever feel the need to write non-AU 'Trek with your own characterisation--I'd be one happy reader. ;)

I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to reply to your comment! Been a couple of busy weeks with family stuff, both expected and unexpected. Anyway, I'm glad (I think? Maybe? Sort of?) that this fic had the emotional punch I was looking for. Most precisely I'm glad you targeted in on the atmosphere of the story. I thought that if I didn't get the 'feel' of this fic right, it wasn't going to work. That was the part I was so worried about when I posted it - I wasn't sure if I'd crossed that line between closure and cheesiness ( ... )

I think we are totally brain twins on our thoughts of STID(or STIF as you call it). Disappointment was my first thought as soon as it became clear the villain was Khan. Especially after years and years of the PTB denying Khan was the villain. I completely avoided all spoilers and honestly thought they would come up with an awesome new story, not a rehash of TWOK. Homage they call it, lazy is what I say. I actually cringed when Spock uttered his infamous line. My husband, when he saw it with me later, actually rolled his eyes and snorted. That scene will never have the desired emotional impact for me. I even stopped reading Star Trek fanfic *gasp*. I just have no interest in reading anything about STID, or STXI for that matter, with a few exceptions for my favorite writers of course. I did pre order the blu-ray and I'll probably watch it multiple times because of all the pretty (Zach, Chris, Karl, Zoe and Benedict), but it will never be my favorite ST ( ... )

I utterly <3 the idea of being brain twins with you on IF. I was really good - I held out until about a week before the premier of IF before I read spoilers. Jade (my beta and partner in crime for all things 'Trek) was practically bursting at the seams when I finally told her I read them because it was followed by a string of curses that probably would have made Bones blush. I have a rant I should send to you. Your comments were pretty much spot on with my own so I figure you'd probably get a kick out of it ( ... )
