MY MUSIC TASTE IS ALL OVER THE MAP, AND THAT MAKES ME SAD:

Dec 18, 2008 04:25

I miss the days when I was all about electro, or all about instrumentals, or all about shitty Mandopop. But now I have like eight playlists that I rotate tconstantly, every day, so my year-end bests are going to reflect that. I normally don't do these lists, but glassbomb is very good with internet threats ( Read more... )

Oh hey awesome, I could not sleep and came back on the internet and here is this post!

I loove that "The Promise" is your number one. Fucking Girls Aloud man. They haven't gotten it together singing this song live at all though, you are right about that. And I sort of regret not putting Hercules & Love Affair on my list the more I think about it, that album was fierce.

Ohh and I am downloading some of your favorite singles that I have not heard- you have some interesting looking remixes. Also congrats, you've convinced me to listen to Elbow properly. I don't know why I haven't really given their album a listen yet.

Ahhhh you got here before I could add ~fancy album artwork~! I am so bored and sleepless these days.

The Seldom Seen Kid is so lovely. It's just sort of sweeping and epic and awesome.

I still owe the internet a proper Mandopop intro post, but I don't know where to start. :|

Now I feel like I need to reformat my post because yours looks all pretty. YOU ARE SHOWING ME UP BIG TIME, WELL DONE.

I really love that Bloody Beetroots remix now, btw.

Ahhhh the Bloody Beetroots are my favorite ever, I am not even kidding. I wish I could have seen them when they were here in Chicago, but I think both times they came during finals week. WRYYY

Dude, I seldom do these year end best-of memes, so I might as well make it proper! I can never beat you content and quantity, though. :))

Britt had better not be serious with that shit, because I don't think I've had the cultural cred to even listen to eight new albums this year. Instead, I've been spending my sweet moments of aural appreciation blasting US tween pop through my headphones because it's the only way I'll feel less dead from mindnumbing repetition of the copypaste function at work.

Anyway, I'm downloading everything because you have amazing taste. And that you used to be addicted to mandopop only cements this impression further. <3333 God, nostalgic 90s, dimly-lit lounge bar, watch for the sax/erhu solo mandopop is the best.

Also, um, so I might be coming to America this time next year? If my family's financial situation holds out for the next twelve months? Um...*SCREAM?*

I barely hit eight, let me tell you. I spent most of the latter six months of the year catching up on the past six years of Mandopop, which probably disqualifies me from life, but here I am anyway.

UMMMMM YES PLEASE. I AM PRAYING FOR YOUR CONTINUED PROSPERITY, OKAY. ♥

Thank you for posting this. I am strugglin' to get back into Having the Internet and Step #1 has been to update my music collection; also I am struggling to learn how to appreciate electronic music, which is something that I feel like I should do if I'm in Europe, and I'm only good at learning to appreciate music if I can put it on my iPod and listen to it obsessively until I internalize it.

I ♥ you. Also, best description of Kids I've ever seen.

Eurotrash club music is my favorite, I can't lie. I'm sure you've got the info on some local scene just waiting to dazzle us with!! ♥

this is as close as I will get to a "proper music post" canarycreams December 21 2008, 15:49:45 UTC
Errrr, yeah, one would have to actually like electronic music to have info on local scenes. 2 Many DJs is about all I got and that's hardly local, except inasmuch as it was The Biggest Thing Like. Ever. when they came to Lisbon. (Same could be said for Cut Copy. I did not achieve tickets to either of these shows.)

Other than that, X Wife is my favorite of the electro poppy rock offerings. I actually heard them for the first time opening for CSS. And then there's Os Pontos Negros. (Not) ironically neither of these bands is from Lisbon proper. Lisbon proper's music scene is not that great. By not that great I mean...kind of fucking shitty. IMohsoveryHO.
