So, it looks like the bell may be tolling for LJ - there are impending changes in beta that will substantially alter the way LJ looks and operates (making it more like Tumblr), and I anticipate that this will drive a lot of users away.  Also, LJ's US office is closing.  Some links to read about this are below

It's fine with me. I will be lost without LJ. So, I hope this isn't going to happen like you think.

I should have been a bit clearer - I just want to back the community up on DW, not move it entirely. That's what I get for posting when I'm tired! :-)

I do think it's pretty ominous that they're closing their US office. I think DW is letting people make accounts without needing a code nowadays, although if you want a code, I'm sure I can get you one.

I've already got an account on DW, so I'm perfectly happy with this (though I'd be happy even if I wasn't already on DW).
