DON'T MAKE ME FEEL MORE GUILTY THAN I ALREADY AM!!!!
But I did play it with the ornament tied above the whistle hole- it's still on my flute but not infringing on the hole itself. And not only did I play it longer than the Ocarina, I also made up a song! So it shouldn't be jealous!
Love flutes, got some wood recorders and my pretty flute that broke when I was in Canada :( I need to purchase a new one.
Love the ocarinas, my aunt (godmother) used to make them because it was part of her job (she worked at the Precolombinian art museum making replicas of the pieces). If you ever get down here, I can still get a "backstage" pass to the museum. Trust me, you would enjoy that.
I might actually love to venture to your neck of the woods eventually! I would LOOOVEEE to see those. The dude whom I bought my Ocarina form is Aboriginal, so like your grandmother, he does them by hand with clay ad hand paints all of them. I wish I bought his bird whistles to. XD
Meh, just the nature of the wood. A kid I used to play with, his clarinet just stopped accepting the certain reeds he had been using for eveeeeer, but it had to do with the exposure of moisture after a period of time to treated wood. Even with brass, my trumpet is not as up to snuff as it could be from some abuse from another kid and just different temperatures it was stored at different times.
That's awesome that you picked up an ocarina and even more awesome that you seem to be getting along with it well enough. If I had one of those, I'd totally be getting my nerd on with some Zelda songs.
O. M. G. Zelda songs. YOU SO TOTALLY HAVE GIVEN ME MY NEXT SONGS TO PLAY! Which I have already started. BWAHAHA! OH man.. our car ride to Anthrocon will be a long and noisy one. XD
SOooo.. are you saying you are interested in having an Ocarina?
I'd probably be a tragedy if I ended up with an ocarina because I am so musically incompetent. I got a flute from Thailand that now collects dust because of how badly I suck at it (...or would it be "blow"?)
LOL! Maybe that's why you are not so good at it... if you been sucking and not blowing! But you now.. BRING IT WITH YOU! I'd love to fiddle with your flute!
