-laughs at the coffee stained invoice- I spent the day designing and drafting business cards, invoices, letterheads and vehicle decals for my father's business, so this makes me smile.
How reliable is Staples' printing? I need a ton of good quality prints made on glossy paper (like a post card, glossy on one side and matte on the other), so I'm kinda asking opinions on different business' work. I have a Staples nearby in Niagara, so it'll be easy to use them if they're any good!
I just printed some stuff up with Staples, and if the stuff you're trying to print is dark at all, I'd do a test print. Because the Staples that I went to printed my files so dark that they were pretty much just incredibly dark greys next to each other. (EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT.)
That is not entirely true- as every Staples outlet is unique on it's own. I encountered NO problem with the color matching at all with the outlet I am using. Specifically, everyone monitor is set to a different color match, and that is what is causing the problem. You can avoid that by taking the image to multip0le computers, and generally figuring out what is the variance. And again, the outlet also varies. :)
Which was why I recommended the test print, actually. I had a similar problem with Grenvilles at the school, last year. One printer printed everything crazy-dark, while the other one was a little bit more true to what I wanted.
I'd love to be able to calibrate my monitor so that the colours it displays are more true, but I think I'm just going to have to pick up a CRT monitor that someone is throwing out. With the cables. And lug that monster back to the house, so I can have DUAL SCREENS!!
Which Staples did you go to? I would love to have something that could print the pages dark enough. I wound up with prints that were too light for what I wanted, but far, far better than nothing.
I'd love to see all the art, though I won't know the characters.
I was also wondering... What are the copyright consequences of printing these and selling them? Are you good because it's an anime, and people do this kind of thing at conventions all the time?
(I wish my main fandom was an anime, I tell you what!!)
I wish I could bring- but I've sent them ALL out! No Copyright probs- not with Anime. The license in Japan is VERY different then the one in America, and even the shows they do license under American copyright- they still don't have the hold on the original copyright. Meaning, that they only transferred the CR, and don't have a say with what that entails. The only thing they DO have control over is the copyright on THEIR design merchandise- in other words, I can produce a t-shirt with an image depicting the specific show and sell it, however I cannot produce the SAME image that they did. Generally in the "Anime Culture", this is one "bonus" concept that came with the territory. The North American CR are aware of it, and rather not pull the plug on it because it would cost them A LOT in the long run. XD
Maybe they should make some better freaking merchandise, then. Srsly. Someone was asking for someone to 'shop out the text so they could have a Doctor/Master poster to be made out of this image, because David Tennant and John Simm are awesome. I was like... Surely they have a Doctor/Master poster? This has been one of the most enduring OTPs of the fandom, I think. Certainly of the relaunch! So I go googling for posters, and I couldn't find anything. It's ridiculous, the only posters they have are kind of crummy. How about a cool poster?
That's some great information about the CR of anime stuff!
It is true... sometimes, the actual merchandise for the fandoms are SO FAR OFF from what the audience really wants (or form the general target audience... "Avatar" Anyone?) and it makes you wonder, who they got for the marketing? Go fig. XD
That is AWESOME! But you know what I love most? Seeing your bed in total disarray! Mind you...seeing your bed period. There IS a mattress under all those plushies! :D
Epic mess is Epic! Oh woman, you've been working yourself ragged again haven't you? Am I going to have to have a talk with Sensei Adrian tomorrow so he can have one with you? ;)
Dude, I just got a text from Angie, she just met Adam Beach in Ottawa. Ummm, hello, HOT?!? Mmm...just wanted to share.
Yah.. I am working myself ot death. And Sadly, it's starting to get to me. I'm just becomming unsatisfied with EVERYTHING I am producing. it' slike EPIC frustration! I just nee dot relax.. just IT DOESNT" MATTER... whatever happens happens kinda thing. But it won't let me. And whatever "it" is I do not know.
Adam Beach? HELLO!!!! Or should I say- ANHEE BOZHO!! XDDD
I want to "stumble" upon Scott Speedman. And after I "stumble" I won't ever get up again. XD
