At her weight, it's more than easy for Kate to sneak in and out of places. Her footsteps are rather light on normal occasions, but this isn't a normal occasion. Oh, it's definitely not, unless trying to sneak a dog into the apartment at half past three in the morning is normal, especially a dog she claimed to not have with her earlier

Billy is a naturally suspicious youth - its something that dating Teddy hasn't broken him of, but even as a suspicious youth he tried not to lay too many paranoid theories at his friends feet. Mostly because he liked to give them the benefit of the doubt. It's not like Kate would do anything bad, anyway.
But at three in the morning, when the door opens so do his eyes, and he pulls a shirt on from the pile on the floor and tugs it over his head before he opens the door to his room.
"Kate? Is that you?"
If it isn't Kate, Billy has a bit of blue lightning at the ready. Just in case.

Kate hears the bedroom door opening as she's halfway to her room, quietly scolding the dog all the way. She curses herself mentally for picking the room with the biggest windows rather than the one closest to the exit. This would have been so much easier to deal with in the morning when Billy and Teddy are awake and the formerly white furred dog is clean.
She opens her mouth to dismiss any of Billy's worries but no words come out. What does replace her words is another damned bark.

Billy's hand reaches for two things - to close the door behind him and to turn on the light in the hallway. He blinks a few times - he's still sleepy and his eyes aren't sure they're working right. Is that a dog under Kate's arm? Billy can't even make out the color of it, but it's bark is loud enough to make Billy certain that it is a dog. A real one. One that's wagging it's dirty little tail.
He moves across the room and says, "When did we get a dog?"
Considering the fact that both Cain and seemingly three quarters of the city's population was sleeping through the day, the cafe had been dead all morning. That left Teddy with a comfortable afternoon off, so he let himself in to the apartment and kicked off his shoes. Tommy came scrabbling around the corner and gave a little welcome home bark, coming over to nose around his shoes and generally threaten to trip Teddy if he moved. The TV was on in the background, but not the kind of loud banging that characterized Billy's watching habits.
Teddy picked up Tommy enough to get out of the doorway and put him down again as he headed into the living room.
As much as Kate loves Teddy and Billy like siblings, there's just some things she'll never admit to them. One is that she's a sucker for soap operas. Oh yes, Kate is a rabid soap fan. She loves when she's off during the day and the other two guys are off doing whatever they do when they leave the house. It's just her and the dog today and last time she saw Tommy, he was attacking the evil rawhide bone. Either way, Kate's in her comfort zone of her pajamas, a gigantic bowl of popcorn and a riveting wedding scene.
"Don't marry him you idiot! He slept with your mother, twin sister and your cousin! At the same time! Marry George instead! He's cuter!" Kate rants as she throws popcorn at the screen. This show'll make her blood pressure skyrocket, but she just can't seem to give it up.
For a moment, Teddy thinks that Kate is yelling at him (it happens), but it doesn't make sense - he doesn't have a twin sister. Poking his head in the door, he is surprised and horrified for a moment, as if he had caught Kate naked. Was she watching a soap opera? And more importantly, had she seen that he was there yet?
Escape was made impossible, however, when Tommy started barking in his direction, loud enough to be heard over the drama unfolding on-screen. Teddy just tried to look as innocent and nonjudgemental as possible.
"Be quiet, Tommy! I can't hear!" Kate yells without taking her eyes off the TV. The puppy had the worst timing just like his namesake. Why did he have to start barking right when George made his appearance and interrupt the wedding? If he just waited five minutes, Tommy would have her all to himself for the rest of the afternoon.
Or at least until Balmy Night Years started in a hour.
"Come on, George. Don't hold your peace if you love her. I know you love Amanda. Don't let her make the biggest mistake of her life."
