Last week Austin and I went to my mom's to retrieve the old aquarium in the basement. We cleaned it out, collected a few accessories, then went off the the aquarium store (Big Al's). Pet Smart is a big chain store but I've always been impressed by their service and the condition of both their animals and the environments they keep them in. Of course any place can have something happen in a tank of fish that causes them to die off. Probably what happened at Big Al's, but a place like that needs to be especially vigilant if they want to keep their good reputation and not drive business to the big box competitor.

I think the main issue with Big Al's is that it's more geared towards salt water aquariums and hobbyists, as opposed to people who just want pets, whereas Petsmart is geared towards exactly that crowd.

The three survivors are still alive, so I'm thinking they may survive after all.
