I think your answer was better than mine :)

You know, I never thought about Lego like that. (And why should I? I'm a boy.) But you're right. The only reason I can think of for why they keep Lego in the boy aisles of the toy department is because in peoples' minds building toy still equals boy. Because men build houses (or castles or starships for that matter,) and women live in them and clean them, that's the motto. Sadly, as Lego becomes less and less its own thing and more and more a licensing avenue for other, boy-oriented toy lines I don't see this changing.

Lego didn't use to have a boy set and a girl set. It used to come in a giant bucket and the rest is up to your imagination. Now, it's 3 books worth of freaking insructions just to put together a TIE fighter from Star Wars. Ok fine, it was just one book for the TIE fighter, and 2 books for the rest of the set. What's the fun in that?!

Yeah, my mom gave my bf's niece a "girl" set - pink bucket with instructions on how to build a house and some cute animals. Her grandma gave her brother a "boy" set (Star Wars, with BOOKS of instructions).
