Very interesting. I am not surprised to see SF skewed toward male and Fantasy toward female. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see how even horror was! I always think of it as a male-dominated genre (at least until the last few years).

I wonder if anybody has kept stats on the attendees at Natcon and gender breakdown. I could be wrong, but I suspect Natcons were a lot more male-heavy in terms of attendees before 2000, and more balanced in recent times. Which would no doubt influence the Ditmar vote.

Oh and just as a side-note, the Peter McNamara Convener's Award hasn't always been a general achievement award. At the start, it was an award for a particular achievement or production in that year. It only became a general achievement in the late 2000s I think. I don't know if that matters....

I was also really interested in the Horror results - we're told it's a male dominated category, but the history of the Aurealis shortlists doesn't agree. Which is interesting.

Natcon attendee lists would be cool as would nomination lists for each year. But at some point I'm going to have to settle for not having access to all the information.

I'm still not sure about the Peter Mac - it's not really clear why each recipient won so it's hard to make a call on why. But, either way, it's interesting that it mostly goes to men.
