Hm I think my analogy of the shouting is what it feels like to try and get attention and that a lot of people think the right way to go is to shout louder. I think I'm arguing that that's not a very energy efficient method.

Though I would argue that your typewriter art example would be more akin to marketing a book if there were 1 million pieces of similar art being produced every year and if major publishing houses produced it, packaged it and distributed it into major, mainstream stores.

I agree always that you should so something interested and tell it well. But I would argue that that doesn't necesasrily bring notice. There are many many brilliant works that are only ever appreciated by a small audience.
