Weird Food 2

The Hilton is a lovely hotel, service wise, but it falls down on facilities, particularly food options between 2 pm and 5pm. Also its dinner menu is rather limited. And no bar fridge. Yesterday I got back to the hotel at about 3pm and could find nowhere to buy a drink (the machine on the bottom floor wouldn't take coins ( Read more... )

Naked Juice is awesome, we lived on it when we were there earlier in the year. Hope you get to try it at some point, well worth it!

I'm a bit of a fan of grape fanta.

It's not even close to the glory of apple fanta, but it will do.

Tim and I have been chatting about his experiences with the weird world of tipping in the US and Canada, and he thinks that US and Canadian people who complain about the cost of food in Australia might very well be looking at only the base price, forgetting that in their own countries they then have to add taxes and a tip.

My brother, recently returned to Oz from Canada with his family, said that while the grocery bill didn't seem to have changed much, he thought cafe/restaurant food was expensive. Tim had just returned from a trip to Canada, and said that once he'd added taxes and tips to a menu price, the overall cost was about the same. Jason thought about it a moment then admitted that yes, that was probably true.

His kids are now Facebooking to say how sorry they are for their Vancouver-ite friends that they don't have Milo, Milo Bars and Old Jamaica Rum chocolate...

Our local IGA sells grape Fanta. Nasty stuff.
