One time, my ex-boyfriend and I were in an English class together and the teacher asked who in the class considered themselves a feminist. We were the only ones to raise our hands. The teacher looked at the rest of them and was like, "Do you believe in equal rights and opportunities for women?" "Yes." "Well, then, you're a feminist."

I think the major problem is that a lot of people don't understand the meaning of the term. Or, my classmates just sucked. I like to think that too.

I'm going to go with a combination of both A & B. People suck. But also, in some cases, they just don't understand. Or are uninformed. Which really shouldn't be an excuse. Being ignorant is not an excuse.

It's one of those things that in some ways, it really is that simple. In others, it's totally not.

Yay your teacher though!

i like the black woman's response. it seems self-evident to me as well. and women/people who say they aren't drive me up the wall. you want equaility for the sexes? you're a feminist. even if you don't like the word, you still are one. i dated someone a few years ago who said he belived in humanism, not femisism. as if the too are muchally exclusive! when really they are interchanable. fuck. like the person in that clip who said ' i'm not a feminish, i'm a socialist' seems pretty perfectly in line with socialism/humanism/anti-facism to me.
