Never in my 6 years at LJ have I ever seen anything like this happen. I think I'm in shock. I was planning on updating about the going ons in my life (rovers, work, teevee, friends, etc, etc) but I am just... wow. Shock.
Amusing, I was just commenting in a friend's journal about how Six Apart was going to realize how badly they messed up and when I refresh my friends page, lo and behold:
It was a bad move to begin with. When you cut the head off slash two more heads appear. The only way to defeat the menace to both literature and good taste is to quarantine it in private journals.
I have no problem with LJ taking steps to get rid of actual hamrful communities/users (such as the pro-pedophilia stuff), but they should have taken more time to check what was actually an illegal community, as opposed to a writing comm. Considering fandom owns LJ, I can't imagine they expected any other response from the users. >_
For sure. I support that. They just screwed up big time on the implementation part of things. The whole fallout was a bit like a trainwreck. I was up til 3am reading comments to the news posts and going :O:O:O:O And then I resumed the normal course of things and am back happily reading J2. Hehe
