words: 2000ish
rating: PG-13
summary: marauders era. some shit is about to go down in the shrieking shack. in the meantime, this is in the manner of a deleted scene (or two), i guess.

note: it's disingenuous to say that this was written on the occasion of the 30th birthday of my lovely friend secrethappiness, since that was about a month ago now, but that was ( Read more... )

Oh, lovely, tarte! Your writing is always so lush, with all these sensory details and frustrated emotions running beneath the surface, the whole thing draped with this opaque veil of words that are just slightly uncommon or difficult to pronounce.

Also, Sirius is such an idiot here. It's painful to read. *grimace* M.

thank you, maggie. i'm really flattered that you like the way i write. i apologise for the inactive women here, although not for sirius being an idiot, because i think he probably was. :)

Ahhhh brilliant! So fascinatingly oblique, so very much implied even though very little is actually said. You can see it all building toward catastrophe, inevitable as a Greek tragedy.

aw, thank you! i'm glad you got some ominousness out of this. i really enjoy situations where canon has the reader basically waiting for the other shoe to drop. you can build a lot into the interstices.

Nicely done - this fine line between longing and belonging. The fact that we know what's coming for them makes it all the more poignant. Your descriptions are redolent with feel, sight, smell, sound . . . a very *present* slice out of time.

oh, that's a nice way of putting it! and i guess both are equally important to lupin at this age, and with his outsider status. thanks for reading and commenting.
