Torchwood - er, wha?

Aug 31, 2008 02:21

So apparently I'm a very bad fandom nut.  I rarely pay attention to the latest gossip about my favorite shows/movies/books, and I generally depend on the rest of you far more intelligent (or OCD? LOL!) to keep me up to speed.

Case in point:  Torchwood: Children of Earth
Spoilery remarks about the above article link )

torchwood, theories, grumbling, spoilers

You missed this??? Yeah, the 5-part special thing was announced about 2 months ago. And the new news this month is the title and that it's ALL directed by Euros Lyn. They announced the writers as well, and RTD is writing I think one or two of the 5 eppies. I think the press release is trying to play up the returning guest stars like Andy because of losing Owen and Tosh. And Freema is a point of conflict because she took another job over Torchwood at the last minute with ITV (BBC's biggest rival) and as a result they had to REWRITE the series to write Martha out of it. No one knows what's going on with Noel, although there was one report that he's potentially been on set, but it was a sketchy report. No one's really sure if he's involved or not.

Holy cow, NO!!! I didn't know any of this!

I feel like I'm cawlin out of this black hole of festivals, only to find out the world has gone on without me! What nerve!

You should've heard me shrieking when my mother made mention of the GORGEOUS Texas Governor's Mansion being torched by arsonists...IN JUNE.

Good gawd.

Why would Freema burn her bridges like that???

Honestly, Freema's decision was NOT a bad career move. The job she took is a role on ITV's British Law and Order. It's a completely different TYPE of role than Doctor Who, it gets her out there in different circles, expands her experience (since Doctor Who was her FIRST gig) and, the honest fact is, ITV has more money than the BBC, so she's probably getting a much bigger salary for the role than she would have on Torchwood. Plus, we're talking a new series with potential for more of a future versus a series of 5 episodes of Torchwood - it's also probably a longer working gig.

And yup, the world moves on, doesn't it? Weird how that happens. I'm still kind of in shock that summer's almost over. Didn't it just start?

Well, can't really blame her for that!

And I'm more shell-shocked from my summer, so I'm just thanking God the whole thing is over. God, I hate summers with this job. Can I go to England with you instead next year? Not to actually study and work hard like you did, of course - just to hide. ;-)
