MAJOR changes in our "Release Party" plans

Mar 28, 2007 20:19

Alrighty. First, I must sincerely apologize because I'm afraid this is going to throw some of you for a huge loop.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my tax refund this year wound up being 1/5 of what we had anticipated.  So rather than having enough to get Ethan his braces, pay off bills and get me to Boston, we won't even have enough to pay for ( Read more... )

Alas, I still can't go, but it sounds like fun! I just thought I'd mention that aside from the expense for just a weekend when I can't stay any longer in July, one of my major reservations with the plan was that I didn't really want an American edition of the book. I want my Raincoast Books edition with the UK/Canadian spelling and the recycled paper and the Scholastic artwork. LOL. So don't feel tooooo bad. ;-D

I'm trying to figure out now exactly which version of the book will be sold in the Bahamas! Scholastic doesn't list the Bahamas on their website, so I'm headed over to Bloomsbury now.

I would think the UK edition; while the majority of the islands are emancipated nations now, I think most still have relatively strong ties to Britain and would likely carry that. *ponders* You know, now that I think about it, I don't know WHICH cover art we get...I just know I like reading it with the proper spelling! :D

Nvm, we get the UK art, b/c I know we have both kids' and adults' editions. Cool.

You're so weird. All this fuss to get together with a bunch of people for the release date, and now you'll be on a boat in the middle of nowhere and not even sure of getting the book that weekend...

Have fun.

For me, not doable sadly. Getting TO the cruise would pretty much blow my budget. Oh well! I'll just find something else to do. You guys will have a blast.

Well, you know you don't have to look *that* hard. It's just a long-weekend cruise. I'll still be here in Boston all summer, as will my apartment. And the Duck Boats. And Faneuil Hall. And McIntyre & Moore's. And the Freedom Trail. I'm just saying. ;-)

Count me out, but you knew that already. I'll be otherwise occupied. Besides, the more Harry Potter hype I hear the less I want to read it. I've always been quirky that way. :)

You're so damn stubborn about HP! I can imagine your mind is somewhere else right now, though. I still can't wait for your little angel to show up!!
