Look, I'm not saying that it isn't possible that Six Apart is toying with the idea of an IPO--
those rumors have been circulating for years--but a quick poke around the usual venues to check on that sort of thing seems to indicate that there probably really isn't much more than toying with the idea going on at present, if that.
I did a quick check of SEC filings and
this is Six Apart's rather sparse contribution (assuming this is the same Six Apart--the address doesn't match their
filing with the State of California, but the name is a match, and the state doesn't allow the same registration name for 2 corporations). Nowhere near the amount of financial info that would usually be filed well in advance of an IPO, and the last filing was more than a year ago, and is likely related to
this, suggesting that they're not really actively pursuing going public at this time (though no brownie points to Six Apart for paper filing with the SEC, making it impossible for me to study the entire text of the filing.)
