So, British candy. Who knew?

My local grocery has recently started to stock British candy, which is just kinda nifty. They've had some Arabic and Mexican varieties for a while and British digestives in three different flavors, but no British candy. Seeing them tonight, I had to purchase a sampling and try them out ( Read more... )

I once tried Turkish Delight as a kidlet. I remember struggling not to spit it out and thinking, "Dude...Edmund sold his soul for this?"

Seriously. You're missing NOTHING.

Jaffa cakes (yes, they're really called that), on the other hand, are made of total win.

I'm pretty sure I've tried Turkish Delight before and was somewhat less than impressed with the result. I was pretty wee at the time though, so I could be getting confused.

...What goes in this mysterious Jaffa cake?

Have I mentioned lately that I adore you? Just wondering.

Turkish Delight is definitely dodgy. Probably one of the shiftiest of all the junk food. Right up there with that thug- Deep Fried Snickers Bar and the perv Sugar Daddy.

LOL, no but it never hurts to hear. :D

Ha! Deep Fried Snickers and his less than clever cousin, Deep Fried Twinkie?

Man, Sugar Daddy. I've still got to wonder who chose that name. Unfortunate implications abound!

The Turks are more than welcome to it. It's one of those faux ami names, like how Greenland isn't actually green. Delight, my ass.

Actually, I've never had good chocolate out of the Middle East. I've had excellent coffee and fantastic tea and even really, really good beef. But the chocolate is always kinda dry and chalky. I'm not sure if I'm just going to the wrong places for my Middle Eastern chocolate or what, but it's definitely not my preference.
