If it weren't for the fact that the original case report was published in the Lancet, I'd think this was a hoax

This would be cooler if the doctor said during surgery "Dammit Jim I'm a doctor not a Trekkie!"

I'd love to have been able to mess with his chart.

"Patient exhibits severe problems with his blood. HE'S A FUCKING VULCAN! Get him to the steps of Mount Silaya before his soul is lost forever! Dammit man, it's not surgery he needs, it's the refusion."

I'm pretty sure a whole lot of comments were made, but nothing facetious will have been put in print (or said around anyone who wasn't a member of staff) for fear of litigation. More's the pity.
