The Big Read

I saw this list of 100 books every adult should read.  I was encouraged to see I had read the first 8 books on the list, but after that, there were just a few I had read. There are only 2 more I intend to read--#37 and #88. I liked all the ones I have read in the past, though, and I am glad I read them.

That's still good, especially considering they only reckon people will have read about 6. :)

I really enjoyed The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It's an interesting idea about what heaven might really be, and I don't think it necessarily goes against Christian ideas. It doesn't necessarily support them, but it's certainly not one of those books that is totally off. I actually really liked the idea of it...that the purpose of heaven is for us to have the chance to understand the purpose of our life. I think I was feeling especially purposeless at the time I read it, too, so that may have had something to do with how much I liked it. :)

I want to read The Kite Runner, too. Did you know one of my students wrote his book report on it? It sounded interesting, though maybe a bit too mature for a 9th grader.
