The snowstorm is sudden and harsh. There are snowdrifts ranging three feet to ten. The oncoming army is stopped dead and there's no way that Camelot's men can move more than a half a mile, let alone fight.
At the camp, where the snow is dusty and forgiving, the soldiers take the day off to catch snowflakes on their tongues, make snow angels, and not face the battle that is peeking over the shoulder of this storm.
"Strange, isn't it?" Arthur says to no one in particular, though Merlin is there, leaning against his back. "Having this big snow storm this late in the season."
Merlin feels like he's being accused, so he buries his face into the hair at the back of Arthur's neck as he answers, "Yeah. Really a bit weird." His breath and words cloud against Arthur's neck like a kiss.
