If Hallmark came up with one, the patient wouldn't be able to read it anyway. Hugs and seeing a lot of people at Con right after was much better!

Chris had to create one for my transplant, but he didn't quite expect the stroke on top it. (It was a two-fer!) The card is HUGE and sitting next to my sofa. I don't see your signature on it, so remind me to show it to you some time.

I'm one of those people who have a disintegrating body. Diabetes for 20 years, quadruple bypass, kidney/pancreas transplant, and 4-foot-long scar. I lost the transplanted kidney, and got one hell of a gift from a friend. Three days after the kidney transplant, I had a stroke. When you're gonna have one, be sure to be in the hospital already. The procedure done 5 hours later saved me from a lot of brain damage, but it's still a lot of work.

I'm working on my Master's degree in Technical Communication, and communication is hugely important to me, so I'm more determined than most to relearn 40 years of language.

It changed my life, obviously, but also in a few good ways. I was in a dead-end Proofreading job, in a soul-sucking company. I was so concentrated on survival I didn't realize I was going nowhere.

Were you alert when you had the stroke? Were they monitoring you for one already? Was it a complication from surgery? Are you at risk for another one? Was this compications of diabetes? Gosh, sorry for the twenty questions. Im just really interested.

I was awake, walking back to my hospital bed from the bathroom. Hrm. I don't know how a nurse appeared at my side (I'm thinking she came into my room while i was in the bathroom), but she supported my paralyzed right side until more nurses came in, and then they helped me to the bed ( ... )

and we're glad you're here! i'm amazed at the human spirit, and the determination of some people who have walked thru the darkest passages of life--and i'm delighted when i find someone who takes that life by the throat, and shakes the good stuff right out of it. keep it up, and we'll keep cheering!

My spirit has always been much stronger than my body, but at least its fixable. : )
