Don't talk to me about Lycra...

You know how it tends to get 'holey' when it gets old... well I went out on a ride with a friend (Phil) after having not ridden for several years and about halfway through we stopped for something to eat. I noticed I had a 5p sized hole on the outside of my left leg and mentioned it to Phil, then he said 'Yeah, I thought you knew about your hole'.

Then I realised we were talking about different holes. At the top of my arse I had a hole bigger than a 50p... and he'd been cycling behind me for the last 20 miles... and I'd been into a shop.... and I don't wear underwear under cycling shorts.... ewww!

We're still friends, although we don't mention the 'Ashton Keynes' incident anymore...

My dad does a lot of welding, and is a lot less safety conscious. I remember being told that on one occasion my mum took him out a cup of tea nad was very upset because his trainer was alight. He was not bothered as he wanted to fdinish the seam before putting his trainer out.

Maybe you should train the eldest to stand by with a bucket of water?

Sometimes I think I go the other way, but the way I look at it is that I wouldn't be able to comfortably concentrate on the welding or grinding or whatever if I was worrying about getting burnt.

Anyway, if I give Peter a bucket of water, I think I would just end up getting very wet!
