Yay for Doctor Who, one of the best episodes yet I think. A good sf premise, excellent visual effects and some really good character stuff too.

I'm not keen on yet another who wants to be a pop academy fame idol factor programme. Why aren't they singing songs from the musical? Have I missed something, somewhere? Isn't this just cheap advertising for Andrew Lloyd Webbers?

I definitely prefer it when they sing songs from musical theatre, and definitely more specifically from the actual musical they're auditioning for. But if past form is anything to go by (Maria) they're starting with well-known poppy songs to draw in the non-musical-theatre audience. After all, I love musicals, so I'll probably watch whatever they sing. And if past form is anything to go by, they'll move on to musical theatre songs.

Lee is good, but I'm torn about whether I want him to win or not. I have issues which I plan to go into in a minute on my own journal! I absolutely adore Keith though - he's fab!

Aw yes, little Keith. Aw.

I don't have a problem with Lee. Hey, if ALW was auditioning for Joseph in the normal way, he'd be entitled to apply, and would have a good chance. Why should it be any different just because it's a public audition?

It's not that particularly, although I still wonder why he's taken the risk - another six months and he would be a leading man in any case. My main problem is I saw him on stage last year and he wasn't very good! But maybe that's a little unfair - it was over a year ago, and I'd gone to the show with the express purpose of seeing the actor he was understudying, so maybe I was biased anyway, but he didn't strike me as anything special. He does, however, have a very nice smile. :)

Oh right... hm...

But then again, if it was a part he would have been excited about and auditioned for were it a normal audition, it would seem a bit unfair to count him out from this. I thought he was one of the better ones tonight.

I missed the first 5/10 mins of Dr Who as my dad wouldn't get off the phone, so missed most of the context, but it seemed decent stuff. Bit confused about the Face of Bo'Selecta saying he was the last of his kind as well as saying he wasn't alone (I know what's coming, but is the "other" bloke not one of the Doctor's "kind" too? dunno...)

Anyhow, pictures to follow tomorrow now as it's late and I wouldn't want Dr F to get jealous of my butch manly bag ;-)

Oh BOO! I've been hitting refresh ALL DAY waiting to hear where you took the butch and manly manbag.

Um... first five minutes... Doctor said "ok ok, I said one trip only, but one more can't hurt, let me show you the FUTURE!!! WoooT!" and took her to New New York, and - not sure if this was early enough for you to miss it - they were walking around and there were cabin/stall things selling drugs ("Happy 1", "Forget42", "Honesty 17" etc) and there was a girl buying Forget because her parents had "gone to the motorway" and thus she'd never see them again and she was sad, and then they stuck the Forget tab on her and she forgot. And then the two people kidnapped Martha, and the Doctor chased after her.

Phew, that makes a load more sense now!

I was watching with the sound down until she was kidnapped, then I didn't understand what this "motorway" was or why she'd been kidnapped...

Think I'll watch it properly tomorrow too :-)

Oh yeah, she was kidnapped because the Motorway went on for years and years, but there was a Fast Lane that was slightly quicker (six years instead of 20) but they had to have three passengers to get in there.

I definitely need to see it again.

We'll make a DW geek of you yet. Have you met uktechgirl on my flist? She is a big fan of the ginger and the Timelords.

Doctor Who was just shite for me. Hated it. Going to have to have a break from it until the next The Moff episode I think. Blech.

Am a bit disappointed with Joseph - I adore the Jasionie Donavonie version, I wore the tape out back in the day and know the whole thing off by heart - but somehow it doesn't feel as special as Maria did. There's a lot more *talent*, and it will be difficult to choose, but somehow it feels like it's ugly cousin. I don't like the inclusion of dancers now like it's Top of the Pops, I don't like Denise Van Outen being there and doing most of the talking (why not Jason?!?) and so yeah. Not convinced yet.

I adore Daniel though, and Lee, and the David Beckham lookalike who would so be perfect for a real 'standout' point of view.

I never saw Joseph yesterday since I went out, but I watched Dr Who later and wasn't very impressed. It seemed a little bit OTT that anyone would sit in a motorway for 6 years and not be suicidal and/or very depressed!

Hm... well I think that has several things that it brings up. It's an extension of the modern idea of traffic jams (I mean - 100 years ago, would they have believed that we'd sit in traffic jams for hours and hours, and not get depressed etc?) And there was the spiritual thing - the hymns - bringing them together and keeping them sane. Plus they all had drugs too. I think they were also making the point about how when things happen gradually, you don't notice or complain.
