For a variety of reasons, I was thinking of three neuro-atypical ladies today. (Good Luck! 🍀, Happy Birthday! 🎂, and *hugs* 🤗, in no particular order... 😉) calico-pye posted this, and I felt it was well worth sharing if you hadn't already seen it in your feeds. ❤️ ( Read more... )

There were a lot of lines I really liked. Some things I immediately recognise as true ('When we show up, it requires courage.'), and others I had to think about... (We honour our neurologies.' which was a rather poetic turn of phrase, and not as instantly accessible.)

I am so on board with "When we show up, it requires courage." Totally!

I know. Courage isn't just about climbing on some dragons' back...

Oh Ginger, you have no idea what you've just done... I've known for years that my younger son is a high functioning autistic, but had no clue why. No one noticed, not the doctors, family, no one. Thank you.

You're most welcome. ❤️

I remember seeing a special, I think it was the BBC's, where they were trying to explain autism, and they had one specialist who finally just said, 'Look, it's a spectrum. We're *all* on it. The question or the issue is where you fall...' But I very much liked the idea of everyone being in it together somehow, even if the individual lots are different. (Probably just appealed to the romantic in me... lol)

I looked up information on women symptoms of autism... I had no clue how different they are from men. I'm planning to talk to my Dr. about this, as the early childhood symptoms were all there, plus most of the adult women issues related. Have never had anyone catch this, it's been blamed as variety of other stuff, but this made absolute sense. So many things make such sense about myself now. Thank you.

Interesting, isn't it, the difference gender can sometimes make? I hope you find the talk with your doctor helpful. Sometimes the word, the diagnosis makes all the difference. Sometimes none at all. Ultimately you remain *you*, and deserve tolerance for your you-ness regardless of diagnosis.
