Thanks for testing it, grooot. You’re lovely. ❤️ The comments come through, but only if they’re in reply to one of mine or my post. The ‘mentioned you’ pingback does *not*. I’ve searched around an found a few people who’ve posted that they had this problem (some of them *years* ago, so it doesn’t look like a solution is in sight...). LJ seems to be aware there are problems, and basically blames the email client (bollocks) but I noticed that it doesn’t send one to my LJ Messages either **, which sure as shooting can’t be explained away by my email... Hmm. Plus all the other LJ mails come through, apparently just not the mentions, now that I know what to look for... And here I was wondering about all the blank emails... lol
** I expect (and am ruthlessly using you to test 😉) that having put an ‘lj user’ tag in the above that it should not just send you the comment but also let you know you’ve been mentioned. Right?
Anyway, it’s still borked. [<- that’s me getting technical again. 😉]
It’s hit or miss for me. Although more recently it would appear that I’m not getting notifications anymore. I also wonder if some folks aren’t getting notifications when I send them pms as well, since those occasionally go unanswered.
This paper cutout is fab! Thanks for sharing your technique.
Well I’m making a (very) little progress on figuring out the notifications. Thanks to blueartemis07’s birthday, and Beffeysue gifting her a rather nice dragon, I now know that the emails with nothing but a colon in them seem to correspond to the gifting of something to someone on my friends list. (Very useful notification. *nods* lol Can’t fault their business model...) Interestingly, I do get those in my messages as actual content containing messages in stark contrast to the notifications, where there’s nary a sign

No, I only have the one account. I wouldn't be able to keep track of multiple accounts, so I don't know how you do it. Too many passwords for my small brain to maintain.
Is your headlamp one of those camping ones or does it have a magnifier as well? I recently bought one but I've yet to use it. My eyes have gone bad in just the last year and seeing up close is getting more difficult. I'm finally having to take off my eyeglasses to look at labels up close now.
Oh sweet Ginger! This is gorgeous! You are so talented. And I really enjoyed watching the progress and seeing your technique. It looks very intricate and I am certain I would fuck it up instantly if I were ever to try it but you clearly know what you are doing! It's just beautiful, and I'm thrilled that you did it for me! Squeal!
The headlamp looks amazing. I could see using that a lot! Since my eyes are getting all old and crappy, bright lights are my friend. :D
*blush* Thanks! 😊 But what I really am is patient (unless I have spray glue all over my fingers, then all bets are off...) and able to use software that lets me manipulate a picture to better cut it. (Heh, and let’s not forget the magic markers... lol Seriously. *Such* a time saver. Spend twenty minutes faffing about with software, or just take pen to paper? Hmm...) But this is what happens when the hands are working and you give me something that lends itself to being rendered as a stencil / papercutting.
*Love* the headlamp. The magnifying glass even has a built in lamp, too. You wouldn’t believe how often we use it. And its use has the decided advantage of not being anywhere near as embarrassing when interrupted mid-job by people at the door. *Although I really rock that mole-woman look...* 😉
THIS IS MARVELOUS!!! I loved reading about the process and seeing the tools you use (Snape and Hermione being all helpful and adorable to boot!) I don’t know diddly-doo about notifications, etc... I hope it got sorted out for you. What do you do with your paper cuts? SO COOL! 😘
Snape and Hermione tend to have very different ideas of what constitutes ‘help’... lol
Mostly I make them for people. (Who are then hazed with artwork they neither wanted nor needed... heh 😉) The other half is sadly not a fan of two tone renderings. (Or three tone, for that matter. Goodness knows I’ve tried.) So we don’t have a lot of them hanging about. I made two he actually liked, though. And I have three from years ago that I’m very fond of. (I don’t think I could do that level of detail anymore.)
I think the ones I make with people’s / families’ names tend to go over best as far as gifts go. I’ve done a lot of those for births, weddings, and milestone birthdays over the years.

I get notifs when I'm mentioned in an unlocked entry. Don't usually have a problem with jt.
