More squeeing took place...

For a variety of reasons the world seems to need more things to smile about, so I thought I'd share something that makes me happy. (Because, yes, I'm five.) So this is me, being completely frivolous. WARNING: (and this should come as no surprise) massive Lego pic spam to follow. (But the pics have all been compressed, so that shouldn't be a data ( Read more... )

Wow! I absolutely love Lego, and these are just to die for. My biggest thing is that, with something like this, I'd want everything to make into a super display, and I don't have the money or the time or the space to do it. But I absolutely love looking at the big set pieces.

Last year, TheHubs gave me the Funko Pops HP Advent Calendar, and that was the highlight of the season for me. I might keep my eye out for the Lego one as a companion piece this year!

I know just what you mean. I like several things about last year's Beauxbatons carriage, for example, and the Hedwig model is a pretty impressive design, but I just haven't got the kind of real estate to display them. (Or the requisite small change, of course...) But I enjoy 'leafing' through the catalogues.

Oh advent calendars are the best. I remember looking at the funko pops one, too, because it was very cute, but ultimately I'm a brick head. As was, I enjoyed the lego advent calendar to little, bitty bits, and can recommend it whole heartedly. I posted it day by day last December, if you want to look at it. (Or if you want to 'open' the doors, you can click the folds open from this page.) I managed to get it on sale, and it was an excellent buy. Kept me busy for hours, and I still have bits of it on display on my table.

Ooh, I didn't realise you got to assemble them - I'm defo going to be on the lookout this year!

All buildable. Some of my favourite resultant bits of silliness were Snape on skates and Severus the fan dancer... (Technically he wasn't even in the calendar, but he just kept inserting himself into things.)

Oh this is all VERY exciting!!! And I'm right with you giving side-eye to that Umbridge and the centaurs thing... erm.....

I want them all! But like y'all, no space. My Hogwarts castle is in a box in the garage, waaaahhhhhh

MW! MW! MW! MW! Did you see? The first ever Lav minifig! 😃

'pick up Umbridge and take her…'

I'm pretty sure someone on that marketing team is hip to the connotations of being 'taken' by centaurs. Dark, but then Jo went there first.

Garage! Nooooooo! *wails*

But it was just the one scene, right? Because it's all over fan art. So much so that when they chose *one* accessory to give him (beyond the wand *oo er missus*), he gets a damn apple.

OMG, Grawp’s bellybutton. And Draco and apples... is that like Snape always dancing a tango and feeding Hermione chocolate mousse? Because how did THAT become a thing?

I'm not usually a fan of the buildable fogures, but Grawp is genuinely cute. (Even the hubs said so, and he isn't usually won over by such things.)

Maybe because of the scene with Snape and the roses, or because his cape always swooshes behind him. That seems fitting for a tango. And there can never be enough chocolate mousse in the world... lol

They look great, but I'm having a problem with the RoR one with the patronuses; It could just be me, and I'm assuming those other transluscent pieces are supposed to be noncoporeal attempts, and it could just be the angle, but they look suspiciously... um... phallic?!

Now, to be honest, put a load of teenage kids together and there are bound to be such images popping up around the school (ooer, missus), and magic just adds a whole new dimension to the centuries old pastime, even if it isn't directly mentioned in canon. Still, we are all for the fanfic and it could give a whole new set of scenes to play out given the fertile (and somewhat filty) imaginations of some adults XD

So the RoR was one of the ones I got (that and Grawp). And I tried the weird patronus fails out (because I agree, it looks a lot like a sex toy or two I can think of) and it turns out that they're shaped that way in part because you can fire them off. You press them back towards the figure and they go *shooting* across the room (and then the searching starts), but the shooting part works much better than I'd have expected. (It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye...)

I'm pretty sure there's a reason lego doesn't issue more naked chests... lol But yes, inclined to agree. The Incarcerous and Ferulas alone...
