Hey, Ginger, watcha been doing?

Jul 14, 2019 14:00

So I've been playing Wizards Unite diligently for the past two weeks. Unexpectedly, I learnt something about myself in the process last week. To cast spells in the game, you need energy. There are a couple of ways to come by it, the most straightforward options involve inns or sometimes greenhouses, these can be found at physical locations in the ( Read more... )

Yeah, I mean you'd mentioned it, but until I had him, bottled and stoppered before me... Ooo. I just couldn't properly imagine it. Just the biggest goofy grin on my face... lol

Never too old to learn, eh? XD

Oh, that all of us that appreciated him could have reached out to Snape when we first read that last book.... :/

Oh, I definitely think of myself as a work in progress... 😉 Just didn't recognise *that* as a thing that needed addressing, and didn't expect a video game, of all things, to do that addressing. That's just... weird. But useful. No complaints, taking my wins where I can. 😊

I have no idea what Wizards Unite is, but I am amused that it's teaching you a valuable life skill. Bring a book -- it will either make loitering 10x more awkward, or save you from the fidgets.

I believe it is the latest mobile game, like Ingress and Pokemon Go before it. Having nothing to play it on, I have no idea.

I have been amused at times to be in a public area and watched the movements of small flocks of people wandering around/back and forth, eyes glued to their phone screens (my hubby and eldest amongst them). I suppose there will be more of them now.

As hubby awaits the healing that needs to happen before his hip operation, consultations with the senior Ortheopedic surgeon tend to devolve into the best pokestops around the hospital.

Y'know what would be awesome? If we could mobilize people via games like this to generate revenue for tree-planting initiatives. Or even mobilize them to pick up trash, le sigh.

My city will give you a free backpack and trashpicker stick plus miscellaneous supplies if you volunteer. That's a bit too organised for my tastes (they like to do specific times and places), so I just always have some extra dog bags on me for trash collecting duties, but I find if one person starts, others tend to follow the example. (The guilt increases noticeably when the handicapped lady 'outperforms' you... 😉) The biggest problem we have are uncovered trash cans and crows that'll cheerily empty the lot all over the park minutes after you finish cleaning it. That's frustrating.

!Hehehe I think I've only seen him once. I am getting used to unapologetically parking and playing, since it's been way too hot to do much walking.

'unapologetically' - Y'know, I think there's a lot to be said for not apologising for being you or having fun. (Maybe that's another thing I'm learning...) I mean I always *believed* that, but that doesn't mean I always behaved that way.

I'm slowly learning it as well. I get some odd looks at imes, but I decided I really don't care. I'm doing nothign wrong; this is innocent fun.

I can go further and make a good argument that an area becomes better, safer, the more people 'populate it' that are having innocent fun, so they can go stuff their funny looks. *nods*

How do you get it on Android?

I don't have an android device, but the google store offers it for those that do.

You do need a device capable of running it, though. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2019/06/21/harry-potter-wizards-unite-all-supported-android-devices/#5826e89243ba
