Fic: Returning Home

Jan 01, 2010 23:24

I'm normally fairly quick off the mark with fic after fandom events (my post Day 2 fic, for instance, which was sadly not representative of what was to come), and today is no exception. I come bearing fic which tries to patch the wound of today's TV. It's also fix-it fic! Whoopee ( Read more... )

Thanks! I know there are lots of different ways of interpreting that minute's worth of episode, but I'm -very- biased and my Ianto love eclipses all else.

I'm even considering putting my own spin on things eventually. Thanks for writing this. :D

That was sweet. Was the book Sherlock Holmes by any chance?

However did you guess? (Any idea of the title?)

Thanks. We need some sweetness around here, I think.

No idea of the title, I have the complete collection but have never had the time to read them yet.

As for how I guessed, there aren't many characters that I know of called Holmes who is mentioned in the quote.

HURRAH, HURRAH, HURRAH!!!!
Did Rusty REALLY think a quick shag would fix Jack?
I love that Ten doesn't know about Ianto
thanks for that, i was bummed by watching the 2nd half of the episode!
You cheered me right up!

I don't know what he was thinking - something along the lines of 'mmm... Russell Tovey', I believe. Silly man.

Ten is good, but he's not entirely omniscient. I can imagine Jack hiding someone at home. I must also admit that I didn't finish the episode, I left after that point. Sad, but true.

Yeah I just finished watching it. I spent a few hours on the torrent and my sister was anxious to see it tonight. I would have stopped right after that scene as well; but she would have killed me...you didnt miss much...
it was very weird...wordless angst...and a death scene that I thought ridiculously long.
Did the man NEVER watch ANY of the prior Doctor regenerations? I guess not...even the Baker to Davison regeneration was better and that one was just silly!

I didn't get why he was so angst ridden. I mean, come on, he can regenerate, he's got at least two regenerations left depending on whether you count the first renewal as a regeneration or not, and either way he's not going to die. I swear no other Doctor had that level of angst before regeneration.

Ianto, at least, went down with dignity in his quiet acceptance of fate.

Why thank you! The stuff that aired was mostly rubbish (I mean, come on... angst over something he's done at least nine times before?), and that's what fix-it fic is for.

Oh this is so my new cannon. Forget what the writers are trying to give us, I embrace fandom.

Jack was simple too adoreable in this, looking after and reading to Ianto, is my favorite version of Jack.

Thank you! Fanon is a wonderful thing, especially when canon screws you around.

I think there's too much emphasis put on Jack's playboy nature and not enough on the tender side of him, and in CoE there was just nothing remotely in character. Jack is all too capable of affection and I couldn't resist having him read to Ianto - there's something so personal about it. They seemed to miss that closeness between the pair which was there in series 2 in CoE, and it devalued their relationship completely as a result.
