I love Shaolin monks

One of my dreams in life came true in October. I met the Shaolin monks at Shaolin Temple in China. I also climbed to the Da Mo cave where both Zen Buddhism & Shaolin Kung fu were created by bodidharma. It was amazing. My scanner won't work, so I finally just took a picture of a picture. what did you go to china for? vacation? i love their shoes with the strappy things!

Well, it was vacation, technically. But we were hard core training kung fu and sight seeing so I didn't get much relaxation! Although it was all worth it!

haha! I have a pair of the shoes, and I made a replica of the robes they wear for myself....but all pink! lol. Its super comfy!

wow, thats so cool! have you ever read american shaolin? [i think thats what its called..] its about a dude who goes to china to be trained like a shaolin monk. it was pretty interesting!

Yes, actually I have read that book! You read it too? It was really a good book, I think it gave a pretty accurate idea of what its like at the temple. I read the book I think about a year before I went to China and I enjoyed it so much. If I were braver I would go over and train for as long as he did. I may go for a month of kung fu training at the Taguo school next summer, but Ive got to save up about $1500 bucks so we'll see what happens!

yeah, i read it a couple of months ago. i didnt know you loved kung fu to the point of actually getting training for it! thats amazing! i hope you get to go :D
