From Llama: How do you feel about pets? Do you ever want to own a dog? What do you think about humans who anthropomorphize their animals?

I have a question for you! You are becoming a masseuse. Bodies come in all shapes, sizes and varieties. Are there any aspects that bodies that squick you? Things that would make it really hard for you to get past and give the client a loving massage?

Ooo, this is a great one. I'll definitely write a post about this one. Good show, Magda.

Now that I'm forced to think about it, I definitely anthropomorphize our pets. But, having pets with such distinct personalities, how can I not? They're so very human sometimes, and they understand everyday English, especially Oscar. He can't hold a complicated conversation with me, but he understands the difference between the words "promise" and "probably". He can be crafty and duplicitous, and he will make an effort to cheer me up when I'm blue. He is less of an animal than he is a friend of mine, or perhaps a very wrinkly mentally handicapped person I take care of. If he suddenly spoke one day, it wouldn't surprise me a bit. Same story for the cats, perhaps more so.

You know, I really like this meme, but so far I haven't thought of anything to ask anyone who's done it. But I love reading your responses. :) They're like book chapters. They ought to be book chapters.

Great post. I love that photo.

My house always had at least two animals in it at a time, often more. I had lizards, a snake, a turtle, fish, a hermit crab, and of course, many different cats, the longest lived of which was Purly, who stayed throughout what I could remember of my entire life up until I moved.

My mom still feels her jump up onto the bed with her at night, and wind her way around her ankles when she's making coffee in the morning. And, to tell the truth, I believe that our animals stay with us forever, because every cat I've had reminds me of every cat that came before in some way. They have a lot of individual personality and independence, and so I don't even really think of it as anthropomorphizing them. It's just the way they are.

That icon is so amazing. Can life ever get more beautiful than red raincoats and ducks? I mean, really?

I love this image of your mom making coffee in the morning with a ghost cat circling her feet. Gorgeous.

OH CLASSIC! HA! You kill me, hilarious. I am so excited to meet Oscar one day. He's already a favorite of mine even though I haven't met him yet.

I like the idea that these are like book chapters. However, I feel like there is no connective tissue in this book. ;)

Love you. Let's talk to dogs together.

Oh my goodness that cat is gorgeous. I know this comment is late, but I keep scrolling down to look at this picture whenever I've been checking my flist, and now that I'm on a commenting spree tonight, I wanted to definitely leave a comment here.

This was a great entry, as was the one you wrote about being a masseuse.

That cat reminds me so much of both my current cat, Nutmeg, and of a cat I grew up with, Sophie. And I thought even more of Sophie while reading the following:

>>but I adored Martini and Rossi and tormented them on a regular basis utilizing such methods as tail-pulling and petting their fur backwards.

Cats LOVE this.... )

I cannot imagine a single creature in the world ever truly being wary of you. You're a little cupcake. I mean, jeeeeeeez.

I think the name Nutmeg is SO adorable.
