fic: not from around here, but here just the same (sg-1/sanctuary)

Jun 28, 2010 21:25

Still workin' through my Continuum feelings. A couple of nights ago, I decided that during a certain decade-long interim in the movie, somebody met Helen Magnus instead of being lonely for ten years. And then I wrote about it! I'll admit I'm unsure as to all the logistics of many many things here, but I really wanted to write this, SO. Also, I ( Read more... )

Okay, so you mighta just made a major shift in my so called aversion to the Cam Man. And I kinda think I might have to rewatch Continuum now.

It’s also the year that Helen finally calls him Cam.

nnnn! Why did you read this before Continuum? You operate strangely when it comes to spoilers, my friend.

fhksld it made my day to realize you'd read this, though, so. ♥

I am the worst at avoiding spoilers, the wooooorst. I just read everything and then haphazardly piece it together and come out stumbling and confused and I'm not sure WHY, but I saw Cam and I saw Magnus and I just couldn't resist. Besides, it's wasn't the plot that made me love this, it was the characters, how subtle your Magnus was, like, compared to the Magnus we see on TV because it was only the 30s and hey, she was still in her original life span. And of COURSE Cam would stumble blindly into somewhere but still manage to find the closest thing to Sam he could to help him out and fall a little for her in the same way, I think, that he falls a little for Sam. Not that he's in love with Sam, but it's SAM and you just sort of get caught up in her because she is brilliant and beautiful and makes everything around her a little bit brighter. And Helen is so slow to let people in because she knows it's all doomed from the start, but she seems to make an exception for Cam because he leaves on his own terms and she knows it's temporary and ( ... )

Okay, this is the best comment of ever; I don't even know how to respond to it coherently. THE CHARACTERS making you love it is perhaps the biggest honor I could ever receive.

and fall a little for her in the same way, I think, that he falls a little for Sam. Not that he's in love with Sam, but it's SAM and you just sort of get caught up in her because she is brilliant and beautiful and makes everything around her a little bit brighter.

THANK YOU FOR CATCHING THIS, YES YES YES. That was- yeah. That was exactly what I was going for. Cam absolutely has a little crush on Sam, but it's an awe crush, and of course it would be the same with Helen. hhhnnnnggggg.

I just, oh, this comment. I'm just going to nestle it close to my heart for the rest of my life, if you don't mind.

This. Is. Grand. Grand, I tell you.

Why aren't there more Sanctuary/SG-1 crossovers? It doesn't even have to be about Sam and Magnus, you proved it beyond any doubt.

Thanks! And why aren't there? It sort of drives me crazy. I really feel like people shy away from writing them, probably because they're afraid they'll be cliché bombs. But there's just so much that could be done with it, argh.

Hey, Sanctuary and SG-1 are such good shows that even clichés would be nice, if well-written.
