30 Day Fanfic Meme: Day One (Fashionably late of course.)

All right, I'm jumping on the bandwagon.  My poor LJ feels so neglected, I'll try giving it some love by doing the meme that's been taking my fList by storm.  Here goes:( 1. Day One )

fan fiction, meme, 30 day meme

i'm starting to think that we all started out writing in notebooks, keeping our very Sueish type works to ourselves before falling head first into fan fiction on the internet.

i used to watch Gargoyles, but i never got that deep into it. that was the X-Men for me.

welcome to the meme.

I suspect there's many a secret-Sue-notebook out there hiding in dusty corners and moldering in landfills. LOL.

If I'd found a good XMen community first, it probably would have been that instead. But I did really enjoy the series, partly because of the fact that several of my favorite Star Trek actors voiced characters. And wow, Goliath's voice was just...*shivers*...all kinds of sexy. I imagine Doyle would sound a little like that.

Its seems like the common "official" fanfic arrival is "I stumbled on it looking for other stuff". lol

Yup. It seems so. Glad it's out there to stumble on, though.

Oh, it was truly Mary-Sue drivel. I remember some nonsense about trying to use green dragons to boost the dragon population. My Sue-ish character was, I think, a wet-behind-the-ears Queen Rider who was allowed to try it out. Can't even remember what her name was or what canon character I paired her with (if I did.)

I haven't read the books in ages. I think I'll stay out of it for the time being. The author has asked that no pornographic fic be written and she looks a lot like my deceased great-grandma. So, I'll leave it alone out of respect (and lack of inspiration.)

I think the sheer act of sifting through all the crap is what go a lot of us started on the path of writing fanfic.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there.
