Return from Gallifrey

Feb 21, 2012 23:16

I'm home from Gallifrey and both physically and emotionally exhausted. I wound up having a snafu with my flight and got bumped to a layover flight that put my home 5 hours later than intended. As a result, I spent most of Monday sleeping. Today I went to work, but had an afternoon meeting that let out early so I came home and slept some more ( Read more... )

Oh! Who is that lovely man?

And I really think you should stand up to the Daleks a bit more.

Grrr. LJ ate my reply.

Let's try that again. . .

That lovely man is Phil Olivier. I believe he's best known for being a soap actor, doing DW Big Finish audios, and a pinup calendar. But as I've only ever seen him on NMTB and an episode of Come Dine With Me, more I cannot say.

He does give exceptionally lovely hugs, though.

And let's see how YOU fare against a dalek!

I'm glad you sort of had a good time? You sound a little like you won't do it again, though...
Being away from the hectics of your work is always good!

Fun pictures!

I'm not sure I'll do it again, to be honest. But if I do, I'll mentally prepare myself differently.

Glad you enjoyed the pics. :)

I've done the bacon-on-a-veggie-burger thing for years. Some people get the veggie patty not because they are vegetarian, but because they just like it better or just really DON'T want the giant hunk of ground beef. I alternate between turkey patties and veggie patties depending on the restaurant, because I am not a big ground beef fan anymore. I always felt weird asking until one waitress said they get asked for that ALL THE TIME.

Anyway, sad I missed playing with your Victoria this year, but enjoyed seeing you and your girl! Also, thank her for inspiring Mel to want to be an Adipose next year. That costume is WAY less of a nightmare than the Weeping Angel. :D

Sorry darling. BACON ON VEGGIE BURGER IS WROOOOOONG. :o)

I missed playing with you in Victoria as well. Had I known I was going to assist Waris, I'd have worn her the day before and skipped Donna. Oh well.

Mel should totally be an adipose, though she was pretty awesome as a weeping angel.

I was thinking about what you said about dressing as Jack vs The Master. It really is more than just a change of clothing, for some outfits, isn't it?

*flaaaaaaaaaaail*

These things were all so much fun! But also yeah, it's such an overload of things and people all at once it's kind of overwhelming, isn't it? I felt like I didn't really get fully into the swing of things until the last day, and then it was done!

Oh but I'm so, so, SO glad that we went. Bacon veggie burger, though. Oh, hotel restaurant. *shakes head*

It's totally overwhelming. And having a certain biological function smack in the middle of it did not help...

I'm glad you are glad we went. :-)

I don't know what to make of Gallifrey. I often feel like it's loads of fun, yet also find it emotionally unfulfilling and stressful. It's like a condensed, heightened experience.

you're not the only one, believe me.

hope you had a good con overall, though. we kept passing each other but never got to catch up. next time!

That's good to hear. Tbh, I was beginning to regress to high school thinking, wondering and over-thinking what social faux pas I'd committed. It all calmed down the minute I had a decent night's rest.

Yes, we must have a real catch up next time.
