I knew I shouldn't have taken that job. That diamond was just too damn tempting - there was bound to be someone else after it. I was expecting to have to outsmart someone, even to resort to violence or seduction to get what I wanted. I wasn't expecting to make a friend....

Oh, you remember, don't you? Or maybe you don't; you were a bit foxed at the time. And I'd been brought in on suspicion of prostitution. (I knew that miniskirt was a bad idea.) That holding cell was cold, but it was very sweet of you to offer me your scarf.

Well, if you hadn't tripped and pulled me over into that great patch of mud, and if our struggles to get up hadn't been broadcast all over youtube as "live girly mud-wrestling" and we hadn't met up in court to sue the bastards, well ... It would never have been the start of a beautiful friendship.

By the way, I still have the footage on DVD, if you want to come by for some wine and nostalgia.

I remember you and I at the Pyramid, experimenting with Special K; alas, the milk dripped everywhere, and it wasn't as tasty as raisin bran. Still, it was a fine way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Grateful Dead, and nutritious to boot.
