I would really hate to have a fur coat in this weather! We had a boxer when I was a kid, and he loved to be wet. His coat was so short that he could just about shake himself dry.:) He would sit on the little circle sprinkler we had in the backyard, not letting any of the kids play in the water. Mom would set up another one for us out front.lol

Zoe's got sort of a "normal" dog coat, not short like a boxer's or a greyhounds, but without a dense undercoat. DJ's looks like lab hair from the outside, but she's got the chow's very dense undercoat, so she gets hotter much faster than Zoe does. On the plus side, once we get her wet (and her outside coat is water-resistant, that means putting her in a full tub and working water into the fur on her back), she dries more slowly and stays cooler longer. :)
