Ethical public discourse - it isn't easy.

Not once but twice within a couple of days of last Wednesday's class discussion on public discourse I caught myself bashing a certain group of people, in this case, the Tea Party. There is no such thing as being purely tolerant of other people's view point's, nor should there be. You have to have firm, passionate oppions to surivive.

I am not saying that I don't bring my opinions to discussions, nor am I saying that one shouldn't. One should, however, not immediately dismiss ideas that one disagrees with. This is what I mean by saying I try to bring an open mind. I have my opinions, but I try not to shut other viewpoints out when they are brought to the table.
