Worldbuilding in the Twilight series

I have never read the twilight books.  I did try once but gave up before I could finish the first chapter.  However...
almost everyone at work and some of you have read them.  For that reason, I can safely say that I have heard a lot about it.  I have heard theories, rants and all about Mrs. Meyer.  Recently, doxys  was ranting with me on the phone about ( Read more... )

Sick doesn't begin to describe my feelings. I'm almost reading only the communities. That automatic filter of a LJ is a God sent gift. I can't handle politics, the nastiness is too much for my faint heart.

Anyway, I never read twilight either, but the whole issue around it has me a little intrigue to be honest. Besides even if I wanted too I can't avoid it. At work, there is an INSANE amount of people who are reading this series and just sit down and discuss it with you. I swear not even with HP they were this obsessed on discussion. I do not get it.

No, Gily, you're not getting stupid. She is. And every time she does this Q&A/FAQ thing, it makes her sound more and more stupid. I didn't understand what it is she's trying to explain either.

And for someone who's taking up Creative Writing, her 'this is fantasy!' 'this is fiction!' answer is making me want to hurl stones at her and her stupidity. THAT IS NOT A VALID REASON! All my fiction professors would want her head for saying that.

Yeap, the more she tries to explain it, the more she digs a hole. Her recent whining about the leak of Midnight Sun really tops it all (at least for now). I would NEVER consider just handing down copies of my novel to just about everyone.

Maybe it's just me but I'm rather paranoid with that kind of stuff and my novel wouldn't leave my hands until it was ready to be handed out to the editor. However, the cynic in me believes that the leak was done by someone on her camp; this in order to divert the negative attention that BDawn was getting.
