Great comments! No disagreement here -- and yes, I've been rewatching S1 and S2 of late, and it's so clear that Dark Willow was foreshadowed from the start.

I think there was always that sense of desperation in her - and the temptation to misuse her powers to assert her power - hence her (gorgeous, admittedly) spiteful trick which made Cordelia delete all her computer class work.

Just wanted to say that I appreciate this post very much.

I wrote an essay once ( Metaphors in Season 6) that you might find relevant, esp in how the Trio are pretty essential (although you've covered it yourself pretty perfectly, so I feel like I'm preaching to the choir).
