News International - a train crash I can enjoy

So, Rebekah Brooks has resigned. At last. Not very many years late. This thing, once it started to unravel, has been like a ball of yarn bouncing down a staircase. A very long staircase. All the pulling on the loose end does nothing to help.

I'm enjoying the media on the subject too. A wonderful blog entry announces that Satan has returned Murdoch ( Read more... )

I loved The Grauniad's cordial invitation to an arsekicking:)

Glad you're having fun!

I suppose she stopped serving her purpose now the Murdoch's have been summonsed(?) anyway or this is her purpose so they can say 'hey, she's resigned, it's all okay now!' on Monday.

Presumably so. One of his senior henchmen in the US has resigned now. It's all good, clean fun.

that blog is outstanding-- all the entries, not just that one. Thanks for sharing it. Palin's "Jefferson and his wife Weezy" was great.

I'm enjoying the Murdoch scandal, it's my current guilty pleasure. The other day I listened to a Guardian podcast in which they managed to keep the gloating down to just a dull roar … heh.

The Guardian is patricularly gleeful, but the Beeb isn't far behind - it's suffered a lot of attacks from the Murdoch minions over the years. The rest of the British press aren't far behind.

It's fascinating, watching the entire edifice crumble. The impregnable fortress turned out to be a sandcastle after all.

So many impregnable fortresses ARE sandcastles.

I'm glad you found the car key!

As for the fun of the circus - last week on Radio 4, Thursday I think, someone was asked whether they thought that round of resignations would save Rebebekah Brooks skin - and said "Personally I give her to next Friday..."

I wonder if he had money on it? Or had insider information!!

The Grauniad cartoons are excellent - as is that blog - thanks for the link.

There was a 24-hour period of panic about that key - it's the fancy sort which doesn't actually have a key as such but a wedge of plastic and electronics you push into a slot; ie expensive to replace.

It looks as if young James M may be next in the firing line. It's probably morally wrong of me to be enjoying this so much, but I have always detested Murdoch.
