I'm pretty heavy. There's a photo of me I'm using on a forum I hang out on occasionally that is now me minus 50 lbs. and looking 10 years younger. It's only half that old, but it's still me looking a lot healthier than I do right now. I was going to say, "better" and then self-edited to not seem vain. No I'm totally vain. I looked good then, and ( Read more... )

Have you heard of Jane McGonigal's game SuperBetter? Google it, I think it might help you with the weight loss.

Man, I want to eat entire pizzas and stuff all the time.

Do you have some kind of weight tracking system in place so you can see a chart and the overall trend? Right now, I'm using the Wii Fit and its workouts to do this. Between that and only eating fruit, vegetables and meats at dinner time, I've lost about 10 lb in the past month. I think seeing the chart makes me think about it during the day. And not want to let myself down by seeing a bad result tomorrow morning. Like I want a new high score. What do they call that? Gamifacation? (Still need like one day every week or so to feed the beast and stuff pasta and mozzarella sticks in my face though. Or I will go fucking mad.)

I thought you still looked very handsome when we've had hangouts this year, but you should do what makes you happy and healthy. Especially now that some of the stress and oppressive schedule has eased down.

My major life changes were something I worked up to, without really realizing it, but the actual decisions to change seemed so obvious and fast at the time I decided to do it. You're health concerns are certainly not new, but maybe now is the time that's ready to move to the front of your perspective. It does take a constant dedication though, so believing that it's really a good thing to do helps. The more it feels like there really isn't another good option but to do it, the better your chances of changing for good.
