The two of them lay on the grass in the cemetery, staring up at the stars. It was a quiet night. They’d encountered nothing on patrol - there was something definitely affecting the vampire population recently, which warranted investigation, but Buffy rarely checked in anymore. Xander moved his hand above him, drawing an imaginary line from one star to another.

“I never got the constellation thing,” he said.

“How so?”

“Well, Big Dipper and Little Dipper, those are pretty easy to see. But then you’ve got Orion - I get the belt thing, but how the rest of it could be a man, I’m not seeing it. And animals? You give me nine stars and expect me to believe it’s a lion? It’s not happening.”

“So what exactly are you doing now?” Giles asked.

Xander looked up to where he was finishing the heart around the XH + RG diagram in the sky. “Me? Nothing.”

Aw, that was incredibly romantic. I loved the bit about putting the comma in the question. It was a very Giles-y thing to do.
