Part of loving all men as your countrymen is that you fall in love with some of them

Laertes: Maybe he's just jealous? jerynn September 8 2011, 20:30:58 UTC
I am seeing perhaps Laertes and Hamlet perhaps had prior relations, wherein Hams was perhaps not very faithful/committed. Laertes is then perhaps motivated by a mixture of jealousy and a brotherly wish save his sister from a similar heartbreak at the hands of *dundundunnnn!*...Hamlet the Playa. I am still uncertain whether or not Ophelia still takes a dive prior to the final duel, or if she has simply run off with the actual Players, but one way or another, it would cast the fight in an interesting emotional tangle from Laertes' point of view. I apologize that this is somewhat simple and uninspired. Also, I am not sure if it would or would not be appropriate to give Laertes feelings of shame over his relationship with Hamlet, as he may or may not be closeted. I think though, that if they were present, any such feelings would be more that he succumbed to Hamlet's wily charms, and was subsequently dropped like moldy danablu.

She still loves her sister and wants to make sure nothing happens to her, but she isn't really one to talk about the morals of sexuality.
