This was amazing. Not quite what I was expecting in parts, but your version was more fitting and probably better anyway. Also, loved the 'cityformer flying' comment. It was totally beautiful and I might borrow in the future with reference, unless you say no. In either case, still a lovely, lovely piece and I can't wait to see what else this universe has in store.
Thank you! To be honest, it isn't what I was expecting in some parts either, lol! There was more than one time that I almost just threw my hands up and pitched the whole endeavor, but I finally managed to get it wrangled out. Now I've just got to sit down and work a coherent follow-up out of this. x__x
As for the cityformer line, feel free to borrow it (or any other line that catches your fancy) if you feel like it!
The best writing does always seem to surprise the writer too. Or so I've seen in my own pieces and heard occasionally from authors. Glad to hear you finally got it and I totally sympathize with those moments because I have some myself. I have one entire fic where the characters just decided 'screw the plot, let's frag constantly' and I can't figure out how to wrangle them back in properly yet. (I then lost track of my outline so I need to review the entire plot before I can write anything else.) I do wish you the best of luck and I'll be totally rooting for you for subsequent parts. ^-^
Cool! The same goes to you too, if you ever read anything of mine and like a bit well enough to want to use it yourself.
This has been an amazing story. I didn't know how it all turned out, and while I wanted to kick Prowl over and over again, and some of the others too, I am so glad they were able to get to him before the 1080 became another friend to bury, lost to a war he burned out from the inside of his spark trying to win. They need him, and they will make him see that. The ideas of spark-debt, and how lack of recharge driving them just as nuts as one of us makes sense, once they can get him out of his office. The battle for Prowl's office is epic, and one of my favorites for all time =) He gave up the ground, allowing them the victory for his spark. Jazz and his archive, Red and his turrets. All of your details and all of the bots and even Wheeljack standing up to Rachet only to escape to the other side of the planets for a bit. This is a brilliant story!!!
