Sorry this one didn't work for you. I think even when events and people are well known you should still make sure you have a good all-around story.

At least you liked a couple of them.

Exactly. I think having seen the example in fan fiction, it was glaringly obvious that the writers were counting on the reader to fill in the gaps.

Yeah, those two stories certainly helped me to sort of enjoy the book.
