Ariadne is one of my favorite mythological figures. There has been a glut of Greek myth stories here lately. I need to check them out as I went through I Greek Myth phase when I was a kid so it would be interesting to revisit them with these current retellings.

Same here. I inhaled Greek and Roman mythology when I was younger. It's nice getting back to it with stories that expand the stories.

It sounds interesting. But the idea of glossing over things to make them more palatable, seems to be 'the done thing' these days - which I find rather sad and very worrisome.

It does make many of the stories less tragic, so they lose the lesson they're meant to convey. Not everything has a happy ending in life.

I can imagine they do. And you're right; they do lose the lesson they're meant to convey, which is very sad and very worrying, TBH, for future generations. As you say, not everything has a happy ending.
