He and Poe were about the only game in town while I was growing up, so while not cultish about his work, I did enjoy it. But I've read that it is something one should become acquainted with when young, so no telling how his work would go down now.
I love a really well written biography and this sounds like just such a book. I've read some of his work but haven't ever really thought too much about the author.
Not that I've read it. I have a vague memory of getting it when we did the 'Genre' BB challenge a few years ago and 'Horror' was one of the squares. But then I found something a bit more to my taste.
It's been a long time since I've read any Lovecraft, so it's hard to say. At the time, I very much enjoyed his work, and I don't remember having a bad experience, so it could be you'd enjoy it. Well, sort of, considering you're not into horror. Plus, there's the writing style of the time.
