He and Poe were about the only game in town while I was growing up, so while not cultish about his work, I did enjoy it. But I've read that it is something one should become acquainted with when young, so no telling how his work would go down now.

It's an interesting book. I was especially taken how each story had its own story, too.

My library didn't have it, so I have to decide if I want to buy it or not. Sigh...

Yeah, unfortunately there's sometimes that. But hopefully you can find a relatively cheap copy.

I love a really well written biography and this sounds like just such a book. I've read some of his work but haven't ever really thought too much about the author.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

eldritchhobbit used to cover parts of his life every Halloween. Since I had read quite a bit of his stuff growing up, it piqued my interest.

Yes, I did. 😊

I hope you enjoy your re-delve into Lovecraft's world.

It appears I have a Lovecraft book - 'At The Mountains of Madness - lurking on my Kindle. I'm just not quite sure why *g*

It was interesting. He certainly lived a unique life.

Lol, yes, I was surprised to hear that! Not exactly your cup of tea.

Not that I've read it. I have a vague memory of getting it when we did the 'Genre' BB challenge a few years ago and 'Horror' was one of the squares. But then I found something a bit more to my taste.

Is it worth reading?

It's been a long time since I've read any Lovecraft, so it's hard to say. At the time, I very much enjoyed his work, and I don't remember having a bad experience, so it could be you'd enjoy it. Well, sort of, considering you're not into horror. Plus, there's the writing style of the time.
