It must be frustrating to have people totally miss the point of your work like that. I must say I'm really not comfortable with the idea that there is one correct way to view any particular work, and that it is creator-set and that's all there is to it, and if you don't cleave to it, you clearly don't "get" the work. I hated what happened in CoE, and I've said two of those things you cite up there (not the death thing, although for all everyone has talked about people wishing death on the writers, I sure haven't actually seen anyone say it outright, so I'm starting to wonder where this purportedly happened). And honestly? I don't think there's anything wrong with being displeased with the way the series has gone for whatever reason. I don't see how divergent POVs are any less valid, either

Blase, yes, that's a good word. I'll have some of that.
I must admit to a certain evil amusement over the whole Torchwood thing, because some of the most vocally gutted people were just as overly happy about some SGA deaths that upset me at the time. Schadenfreude for the win?
I think that's the most annoying part. There wasn't nearly as much tearful angst over Tosh and Owen last year. Everyone has their favourite characters, but people are blowing this way out of proportion.
Well, a lot of us in the ST:ENT fandom are still in denial over Trip's death in TATV. In my opinion CoE is an abomination of similar proportions. Just as ST:ENT ends for me in the middle of S4, Torchwood ends at the close of season 2. I'm not saying I'll never watch it again, but the reason I watched it - the ensemble of characters (including Tosh, Owen and Ianto) - is no longer there, and I no longer trust the writers enough to become invested in another set of characters.
I completely agree with those who have pointed out that the show belongs to the creators and they don't owe the fans anything. They can do whatever they like with the characters. But as a viewer I'm also entitled to say, 'No, I didn't like this. I didn't like what you did to them. You've ruined the show for me and I probably won't be back.'
I seriously didn't know Trip was killed (I gave up on Enterprise halfway through the Xindi arc, although I always liked the community.)
Definitely viewers are entitled not to watch if they don't like the direction the story is taking (Enterprise died for me sometime around the Trip/T'Pol storyline, which felt forced and unrealistic to me.) The irritating part is when they then spew their vitriol all over the Internet in a way that seems far too intense for a TV show.
I don't know if I'd watch a fourth season of Torchwood or not. I always thought it would be neat if they did a prequel of sorts, maybe with that team that was around on the Edwardian episode.

I'm having great fun with the new series LEVERAGE. If you need it, let me know....

I haven't heard much about Leverage (is that the one with Timothy Hutton?) I'm enjoying reruns of Castle with Nathan Fillion, though.

We really liked CASTLE as well. I can't wait for more of that next season.
