Random thought that crossed my mind, while walking to work today:I date a guy that speaks language A, I speak language B, we communicate in language C, he lives in a place where the population speaks language D. If we decide to have babies one day, what language should my baby learn first? Will my baby be coo coo in the head for having to deal with ( Read more... )

I would say the baby should learn whatever language the country he/she will spend more time in. And the baby will be soooooo lucky to have the influence of all the cultures.

I agree with you about the influence of cultures. Hopefully my children will learn a lot from the mix they'll come from.

I think you speak whatever language is easiest for you. If you're alone with the baby, I think that each of you should speak your own langauge, and when you're together with the baby you speak language C. This way the baby grows up trilingual...

Yeah, this is what I plan to do. And then, when the baby is old enough to go to school he or she will learn the 4th language. Poor baby. I'm not even planning on making him soon, but I've already got plans concerning the language s/he'll speak.

Language C... that way you all can talk to each other. Then learn the others. :)

I wanna enjoy your summers. Beats shoveling snow and freezing. I would love to spend the day at the beach. :)

Isn't that the case with everything you buy? I always goes on sale the week after.

Boa noite Gisele

Have a great day today!

It would be easier. That way you, dad and the baby can all speak to each other. He/She can still learn a little bit of both other languages. By the time He/she grows up she will speak all three very well!

OK then. I'll do as you say. If my baby doesn't learn all three languages very well, it'll be all your fault.

Language E -- the new language that all of you can learn together. Babies and young children, from what I've heard, can learn multiple languages simultaneously.

Your baby will be a brilliant linguist!

I guess so :)

I plan on speaking Portuguese to the baby all the time. I want him or her to be able to communicate with my family in Brazil.

Have you thought about what country you'd live in when you're ready to start a family?

Off the subject -- did you get the email I sent you about three weeks ago?

Norway. But I don't think it will be for good. Other countries in Europe are on the list.

No, I didn't. Did you send it to emailgigi@gmail.com?
