So a friend asked me to educate her on the Beatles.
I'm not sure I can do it justice and I know I can't talk about them without talking about the fandom. My mom was a Beatlemaniac and is still a PaulGirl. When I say that I'm third generation fangirl, I'm not joking. My grandmother and mother were fangirls. I was raised to be one.

I've been in the same swimming pool as the Beatles. There may have been thirty years or so in between but I take my claims to fame where I can get them.

This is fabulous and oh yes indeedy to what you've said. I remember watching them on the Ed Sullivan Show and going to their movies. They were mind blowing in every way. It's possible I wore out five copies of Abbey Road.
We used to listen to them breathe on Rubber Soul and just squee, because it showed us they were real and human and singing for us all.
Some days I feel old, but then I think about how I was alive and young during those years and feel very lucky. Thank you for your post which has brought that all back to me. :)
